Had ‘cuppa’, still no action

LETTER

Well it’s nice for Gisborne residents to read all the good stuff that’s going to be happening over the next couple of years (What’s on in council this week by Meredith Akuhata-Brown). No mention about the likelihood of us rural towns getting anything. Never mind, we’re quite used to it.

It has been a month since our “Cuppa” community hui in Te Araroa, and we’re still having to dodge the overhanging branches on the Hospital and Hicks Bay hills. The rock/earth erosion into the drains on Hospital Hill still haven’t been cleared. Every time we get a heavy rain now, the water overflows and floods the main highway. It has been four months now.
