For and against closure

LETTER

Re: Call to make Kaiti Mall a ‘school-friendly’ area, June 9 story.

Close them all down I say!!! There is no need for liquor to be sold as close to Kaiti School as it is!

It is always a mess.

There are always alcohol-affected people in the vicinity. It is always unsafe for kids!

To the lady who wants to close the liquor outlets and the TAB at the Kaiti Mall . . . for your information, these stores happen to be very useful to us Coasties — especially around the Christmas, New Year period as they are the last-stop shops for us.

You said how community opposition worked to close a liquor store in Porirua. If you don’t like what you see across the road from the school, then may I suggest you try another tactic like putting a high fence up at the school instead of trying to ruin people’s businesses. Leave well alone, or move to Porirua.
