Drivers need to see light

LETTER

Many Gisborne drivers really do need far more education on using roundabouts. Working as they should, traffic flow is great but a lot of local drivers don’t even know which way to indicate, apart from waiting for vehicles almost opposite to move around the intersection. Of particular concern are the Customhouse Street, Roebuck Road and Ormond /Wi Pere Street intersections. It only takes a few hesitant drivers to create major traffic jams — after school and 5pm of major note.

As for no lights when it’s almost dark — unbelievably dangerous and oblivious to others on the road. This is even more dangerous on the open road. Leaving lights on all the time is a far safer practice, which is proven to reduce accidents. Quite easy really but there seem to be many who don’t know where the light switch is!
