Show and theatre beauties

LETTER

Ying and I took our guests from Beijing to Beauty and the Beast and we were all in awe of a professional production.

There was a good audience on opening night, and we encourage you to support the show. I think there are over 100 people involved in the production, at least 40 actors, people moving props around, musicians, technical people, front of house.

I continue to get many “wow” comments about our theatre, so thanks to you all for your continued support.

I have asked the council to have pay-wave and also accept credit cards. We are missing out on sales, ie making money, but also to give exceptional customer service to you, so you don’t have to stand in the queue too long.

One confession of mine, when the designs came out for the War Memorial Theatre there were like 50 fly towers. My question at the time was, did we need that many — well, after seeing Beauty and the Beast, yes they do. Scenes and props were flying up and down like yoyos. Trust the experts!

Folks, go and see this professional show — a great story in a first-class theatre, Alex the teacup boy was just fab. Two hours in a cup, wow!

You probably got six million "wows" for the new theatre.
I hope you get thirteen million "wows" for the inadequate new council buildings.
