Fix roads, rail, justice

LETTER

To all politicians standing in this electorate, if you can promise that you will bring some government dosh to fix our disgusting roads here, you’ll get my vote.

I also want to hear you promise to fix our rail line and reinstate it. We have beautiful scenery here and with the high air fares we pay, we need rail for another way to travel.

Another promise I want to hear is for our pussy-foot judicial system to start getting tough. The government needs to get off the fence and change the laws on violent crimes.

Also, it’s time we had a compulsory military training scheme for wayward youths and young adults in our country who are committing violent crimes. It’s not getting better, it’s actually getting worse. No strikes taken at all and in they go into that military scheme.

If you promise me that, I’ll vote for you.

Homelessness is another big issue as well . . . and we have the perfect place for that — the old police station. It’s becoming an eyesore, so it would be great to use that.

If you can promise me all of the above, you’ll get my vote.

Well said K.A. Morrow. I too will vote for any politician who will have the b...s to actually do the above. As for the old police station, why is it allowed to deteriorate?

Should consultation on Gisborne city wastewater treatment and disposal include a “do nothing” option as suggested by the Mayor on Thursday, as well as the five options priced at estimated capital costs of $23.5 million to $42.1m which were approved by councillors?
