Concentrate on needs

LETTER

So our council has suddenly become aware of the issues with our roads . . . were they all blinded by their own illustriousness until now? Or were they busy erecting another unnecessary building or maybe another statue?

Whatever this council is doing with its time and money, it is certainly not concentrating on the needs of the people of Gisborne. The main streets of Gisborne look tired, old and grubby.

I cannot work out why we have a person at the helm of the council charged with the care and upkeep of our lovely city, when they do not maintain their own commercial properties to a presentable standard, i.e. Kaiti Mall.

I would like to suggest the council and Government talk with iwi about turning the old police building into apartments/rooms for homeless people until they come up with a solution to the problem.

Perhaps when Meng is doing his usual Christmas round of events he attends, people could push him on this.
