Cremation wall an unkempt disgrace

LETTER

On Christmas Day I visited the cremation wall, the one by the Gisborne crematorium.

What a disgrace. There were dead flowers and discarded jars and the wall itself has black mould and weeds growing through the cracks.

It has always been a very cold, unpleasant place to visit but why does it need to be left in such an unkempt state? The caretakers who are supposed to look after the place just mow the lawns. It would be nice if they could clean up the grass the mower throws out.

Do you think Gladstone Road Bridge should have its concrete parapet walls converted to steel railings on one or both of its sides as part of the upgrade and widening under way?
