Mass support for Iranian government

LETTER

I am writing about reporting on the recent “unrest” in Iran. We have friends in Iran, so I emailed them because of our concern for their safety as well as to learn their point of view on what is occurring. This is the response I received:

“Dear Friends

“Thanks for your concern. There is nothing to worry about. Making the story short, it’s the anniversary of 9 Day or 30 Dec events. Twelve years ago this day the US and her allies tried to do an uprising like those in former Russian countries and bring Iran back to the US again like in the Shah’s time. Mass support for the government and against uprising neutralised it.

“Now on that anniversary, millions came out to reiterate their support for the government. On the side some elements tried to derail the event by burning a few cars and show that a mass uprising is on its way against the system. Then the mass support for the government has shown that the people do not want these uprisings. In the West all they show is the small noise that these negative elements made and the big picture was overlooked as usual. Let them be.

“So don’t worry, things are fine. But we have to accept the reality that we will have these once in a while. The US gets so excited when there is a noise like this. Fortunately they invest so much against us, but so far they do not get the results they would like. It’s their show, but no more. Wishing you and the family all the best. Thanks again for your concern. Time to go to work.

“Kind regards Mohammed”

In my opinion, what is happening in Iran is similar to what the USA did to Libya and Syria. It seems to me the US is not interested in the welfare of the people of these countries. As shown in both Libya and Syria, the result is widespread destruction of all aspects of normal life, infrastructure and society. Thanks to Russia and Iran, their plan has not succeeded in Syria. But poor Libya lies wasted and fraught with terrorism.
