Thanks response teams

LETTER

Thanks to all the ground crews on roading and associated clean-ups, and thanks to the electricity repair crews out across the district over the past few days. Special thanks to the fellow who repaired the lines in the Waiomoko valley by 7.30 last night after 24 hours without power. That’s not a long time but it is great to be back on the network.

The conditions for some of the teams are far from ideal, with silt all along the valley floors, and slips and debris on the roads.

We do appreciate the efforts of the many crews to bring services and roading to our rural communities.

While many challenges remain for some landowners and their staff, to have safe access and to have the power back on is a significant booster!

Thanks to the Civil Defence teams, many of whom had a sleepless night on Monday. You are all there to help make our community safe.
