‘No!’ to a regional fuel tax

LETTER

Re: Regional petrol tax.

It was with the deepest dismay that I saw our council is amongst areas named which are thinking of adopting a regional petrol tax. What a travesty that would be for an area which is already isolated, has high unemployment, high transport costs and low economic growth. Please let common sense prevail.

Do you support the call for a feasibility study into developing an "inland port" and sending the district's export logs to Napier Port by rail, to get log trucks out of the city and to repurpose the port and harbour area?
