IS GDC pushing at HofG again?

LETTER

I note that “Heart of Gisborne Contract” and “Heart of Gisborne: Temporary Contract Extension” are agenda items in the Public Excluded section of this week’s council meeting. As a payer of the targeted rate that funds this contract, it seems strange to me that this discussion is happening behind closed doors, at what appears to be the 11th hour prior to the current contract expiring at the end of the month.

Who is having input into this discussion? Why the need for a temporary contract extension? One has to wonder if GDC is trying to push through the previously mooted move to shift the funding to Activate Tairawhiti, without airing any proposal to do so in the public domain for the targeted ratepayer to see.

Do you support the call for a feasibility study into developing an "inland port" and sending the district's export logs to Napier Port by rail, to get log trucks out of the city and to repurpose the port and harbour area?
