Empty drum

LETTER

What self-serving body came up with the idea that Gisborne District Council needed eight councillors for the town and only three for the rural sector? Anybody in their right mind should realise that it is the rural sector that keeps this town alive. Without them, it would become a ghost town.

While councillors are beating their chests and saying “they are God’s gift to the community”, they are beating an empty drum.

If the truth be known, the rural sector should have eight councillors and the town three. But I won’t hold my breath.

Do you think Gladstone Road Bridge should have its concrete parapet walls converted to steel railings on one or both of its sides as part of the upgrade and widening under way?
