‘You’ll be old one day too’

LETTER

It’s a complete waste of time to ask for a little help from Gisborne District Council.

I made a request for a few carparks for my luncheon group on Friday, July 6 at the Marina Restaurant as I have a large elderly group, some who are on walkers or who have walking sticks and can’t walk any distance.

This was declined as it is a public carpark . . . which is basically full of council workers and some who are working on the Lawson Field Theatre restoration, which I fully understand.

But to have 70 senior citizens expected to park so far away is ridiculous. This is a group who dine out once a month to enjoy a little company.

Remember GDC, you’ll be old one day too, and may need to ask for help. A little consideration goes a long way to help one another.

In my opinion there should also be two disabled parks at the restaurant. That’s where they are needed — not one that’s at the end of the line far away.

No one respects the Marina Restaurant carpark. The council workers are the first to ignore the signs and take the space.
