New accord?

LETTER

Re: Up for the challenge, August 30 comment.

Hmmm, so Bob was born before 1907 when the first plastics were invented? I didn’t realise he was as mature in years as that.

With the impending abolition of the so-called single-use bags, our plastic use and of course costs will escalate — and already are.

We can no longer use the bags to line bins, put food into the freezer or indeed pick up after Fido. All of these now require expensive, and just as plastic, alternative products.

The world needs to have a cohesive plastics policy that actually reduces all plastics in packaging, cars, refrigerators and every other household item.

Another accord perhaps?

Do you think Gladstone Road Bridge should have its concrete parapet walls converted to steel railings on one or both of its sides as part of the upgrade and widening under way?
