Include toilets please

LETTER

Please include some toilets in the Titirangi redevelopment. I understand the issues around vandalism etc can overshadow an amenity that is essential to prevent “soilage” to the whenua. However, on Sunday Huringa Pai organised for Envirowaste to provide toilets for the day to assist participants in the Titirangi Mt Everest Challenge Marathon Day. They were unlocked from Friday evening until Monday morning and were absolutely fine — no damage. Comments from many participants were really positive and it allowed them to stay on the maunga longer and clock up their climbs.

Everyone wants to know why we can’t have toilets permanently. The Whaia weeders will need to watch where they put their feet as users of the hill admit they just go in the bushes!

Poignant idea . . . - 2 months ago
OMG! I couldn't think of anything worse than soilage of the whenua.
Especially if said soilage was deposited on the steep slopes as this would be extremely slippery for any hapless walker to step on to!
I think it would be a great idea to place the conveniences very near the Cook statue, so that many can have a limited opportunity to air there escalating grievances towards him before his dishonourable banishment from the hill.

Do you agree with the Government’s new guideline for police, to not prosecute drug users when a therapeutic approach would be more beneficial or there is no public interest in prosecution?
