Any exceptions allowed?

LETTER

Judging by the turgid rhetoric of anti-abortion campaigners, one could be forgiven for thinking that they would allow no exceptions. Do they really believe, as is the case in Malta and El Salvador, that there can be no exceptions, even if the mother’s life would be in danger were the pregnancy to continue?

Until anti-abortion campaigners are prepared to state their precise position in such cases, there is no reason why the rest of us should pay attention to their “arguments” let alone take them seriously. Such simple-mindedness is characteristically the result of childhood indoctrination.
