Acknowledging the leaders of our many volunteers

LETTER

Gisborne Volunteer Centre celebrated International Volunteer Managers Day with a luncheon for our local volunteer co-ordinators this week.

We would like to acknowledge the good work that these leaders of volunteer programmes contribute to our community. Volunteer management is often overlooked, yet many services would not be successfully delivered if it weren’t for the work of dedicated volunteer co-ordinators. The national theme for the year is “Time for Change” and we are encouraging greater recognition of the role of volunteer managers/co-ordinators.

We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of local pharmacies who contributed the lovely thank-you gifts for our local co-ordinators, making the celebration just a little bit more special. Tairawhiti is a very giving community.
