Meant to focus on driving

LETTER

Re: Questions raised over ‘great wall of concrete’, December 6 story.

You’re meant to be driving your car, or truck, or riding your bike across the bridge. If you want the “view” get out and walk. You will be able to see over the concrete wall with ease. And you won’t be distracted by the view of earth-moving equipment, log trailers and loaders and logging ships etc that we can see every day of the week from many other viewing spots.

Based on your logic, I demand that the council erect a concrete wall on the Awapuni Road/Customhouse Street corner so drivers aren't distracted by the view of the harbour.
I also think that the views whilst driving through the Waioeka Gorge can be distracting and concrete walls should be put up throughout its length.

In fact, I demand that all cars must have "blinkers" on (like horses sometimes wear) so that drivers cannot be distracted by anything not on the road and that there should be not passengers, radios, sat navs or anything else that may distract the driver.

Bugger it! I demand that cars, trucks and bikes be banned from all roads so drivers are not distracted!
