Retirement best wishes

LETTER

I would like to wish my fellow countryman and former work colleague John Hill a long and happy retirement.

I worked at The Herald for a couple of years and John was like a father figure to me during my time in Gisborne, putting a roof over my head and introducing me to new friends. He’s one of the most selfless men I’ve ever met and he taught me a few very valuable life lessons.

A lot of people will know that Hiller isn’t a fan of social media, so I thought this would be a good platform to get in touch from 12,000 miles away. The newsroom is going to be a different place now, and all the poorer without your infectious personality and constant smile. Enjoy your time with Jennifer now. I love you both.
