Wake up, a war is being waged in US

LETTER

It was with sheer disgust yet again that I threw the paper down — how can anyone with a brain not see the truth of what is happening in America?

The editor calls the crisis at the border manufactured. It sure was manufactured, but not by the President. While Bob Hughes further promotes the popular propaganda as churned out by the Democrats.

President Donald Trump has done more for America than nearly all other presidents and he is setting a standard for all Western democracy — unless we want to be flooded by migrants, mostly from African countries, as proposed by the Migration Compact.

Most leaders do not have the courage to stand strong for our long-established and hard-fought-for freedoms that are under attack. Instead they are driven by self-serving beliefs, as is evident in the European Council with leaders Macron and Merckell etc. Fancy using climate change as a reason for migration. At least the French middle class have said “No more!”

President Trump is infuriating the global elitists as he is blocking their progress. They really hate the president and will stop at nothing to discredit him.

There is a war being waged in America and people should wake up and stop being deceived.

As an aside, Bob, did you know that the wife of Abraham Lincoln held a seance at the White House?

Anne asked if I knew of a White House sceance involving the wife of Abraham Lincoln - no I didn't.
And neither do I "promote popular propaganda as churned out by Democrats".
Besides, Abraham Lincoln was leader of the Whig Party, no link at all to today's Democrats.
Border crisis not manufactured by the President? It is well known that immigration scare tactics were one of his main election platforms.
To say "Fancy using climate change as a reason for migration" . . . get real, Trump's America has many thousands who have already moved from areas made uninhabitable by climate change events. It has been predicted there will be 13 million more before century's end. https://www.citylab.com/environment/2018/01/how-to-save-a-town-from-rising-waters/547646/
Anne is right: "There is a war being waged in America" - a threat to world peace as well. Trump and his wrecking team are waging it. All stops should be pulled out "to discredit them".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 100 percent of the population of the city of "Paradise" all climate change refugees - as will us all be soon?

People tend to vote for leaders who are only slightly better educated and more intelligent than themselves. Mr Trump's "base" are predominantly graduates of high school only. I didn't know much at the conclusion of high school. Did you?
I think it best if us locals believe none of what we hear and only half of what we read about the goings on in America at present.
We have plenty of our own snakes to kill right here in Gisborne.
Pokies, crime and gambling, cronyism, lack of adequate housing and only four rentals, sewage in our rivers, plenty of dirty environmental practices, sad cases of drug abuse, ditto domestic violence and our bloody terrible racism.
Stop talking about America until we have ensured that Gisborne is a great place for every person to live.

For Lara, I agree our district is suffering badly from symptoms of the dis-function that now engulfs the whole world. Also, that we do need to act locally. Just the same, unless we can bear influence upon those in the hot spots that spread the cancerous decline, we are all doomed to much worse outcomes than we suffer now. Sad to say.
