Relief bridge dwellers gone

LETTER

It was a huge relief yesterday morning to see, while out walking, that the Peel Street Bridge dwellers have been moved on!

However, unless someone takes responsibility for the ongoing problems these people obviously have, they may be back.

The Peel Street Bridge is a public place, and the public deserve to be able to walk under there without gagging from the putrid aromas coming from these people’s “ablution areas”! It’s very intimidating to walk through there with these people asleep and to see rats crawling around them.

I have for a long time felt ashamed for our visitors from the cruise ships having to walk past this area. The council should have done something about this problem a long time ago. I believe it is a council responsibility and that Gisborne can do better!

This is so true, a bad look for Gizzy. It's revolting - we have a beautiful place, spoilt by these people.
