Never an offensive odour?

LETTER

So I see that some of our citizens are offended by the ginkgo trees in our fair city and want to have them taken out. I feel I must speak for the trees as they cannot speak up for themselves.

I love the ginkgo trees.

There is something about a tree that offends people that I find particularly fascinating, though I don’t exactly know why.

Which one of us can claim that he/she has never, at any time in life, emitted an offending odour? And the poor trees, unlike a person, cannot blame the dog sitting nearby!

I would hate to think that someone might want to take me out for emitting an offensive odour, even if it was in a crowded elevator!

Do you think more or less of Jacinda Ardern after the Prime Minister ruled out a capital gains tax under her leadership?
