Find strata, open view shaft

LETTER

Your editorial on Saturday was spot on. I too was concerned when I saw the scaffolding on the monument.

Gisborne should be proud that we have National Historic Reserve status for the landing site. I agree that we should try to find the original rock strata. This area is of national significance.

A view shaft to the sea should be maintained. The port agreed to do this years ago but every time I have visited the site over the years, stacks of wood have blocked out the view.
