Walkway, not a race track

LETTER

My friends and I often use the lovely Oneroa walkway along with many others, including families with young children on little bikes or scooters. In recent weeks there have been several men on fancy bikes who are the most arrogant and inconsiderate boofheads I have ever had the misfortune to encounter!

If you are reading this, you morons, please have some common sense and slow down when approaching people from behind or coming towards people on the walkway. It’s not a race track after all, and the general public are quite entitled to be using it!

Please also use your bell to warn us that you’re approaching from behind . . . and if you don’t have one then go ride your fancy bike at great speed somewhere else!

Temper, temper Nana!

It has got nothing to do with temper. It's called safety and consideration.

Well said Nana B, your korero was about "care, consideration and common sense", not a temper tantrum! (As suggested by "Bikes and Pedestrains Don't Co-Exist"). All that is needed is respect and reciprocation by all users of the wonderful shared walkway/cycle track along our awesome rivers and beaches . . . . End of!

Perhaps a speed limit is going to be required!!

"Boofheads", "morons", "fancy bike at great speed" - if not temper then anger management problems.
I don't like cyclists behaving badly either, by the way.
