Stalwart left strong legacy

LETTER

The Eastland Wood Council extends our sympathies to the whanau of John Ruru, a forestry stalwart in the region who has passed.

He has left a strong legacy, having been a forest service manager, consultant and business owner for many years.

He was responsible for setting up the forestry training at Turanga Ararau, and in bringing the first year of the Toi Ohomai Forestry Diploma to the region.

These continue to be valuable pathways for recruiting and training our people into the regional forest industry.
