Great to see Rehette supports reinstating rail but wonder how that will that sit with her position on ECT which opposes rail.Footnote from Ed: Eastland Community Trust chairman Paul Reynolds was asked at their annual meeting in July this year if ECT and Eastland Port were opposed to re-establishing the Gisborne-Wairoa rail line.Mr Reynolds was unequivocal in saying ?no?.He pointed out ECT had invested money into an independent feasibility study around reopening the line.Neither ECT nor Eastland Group had discussed taking a position on the rail line, he said. They now awaited the business case "with interest?.

Good speech acting mayor Rehette Stoltz. One question from me. Good to great is a pleasant aspirational soundbite. However, as I often ask school principals and Boards of Trustees, who use that phrase, what does that even mean without metrics and measures? What is the actual strategy?

Dear Mr Editor Why has ECT invested money into an independent feasibility study around reopening the line when one is not needed? Not done for Kaikoura or Northland. Also I am sure Rehette can answer for herself.
