Footnote from Ed: Thanks Peter. Moderating comments on our website has been an interesting endeavour, often rewarding and challenging in equal measure. It does take a lot of time, and our journalists need to be focused on gathering information and reporting the news. Commenting will still be possible on selected stories on the NZ Herald website. Most importantly, readers are very welcome to send in letters or columns - and news tips - to editor@gisborneherald.co.nz
