Ratanui Angus at Tuai inland from Wairoa got the East Coast Angus rising two-year-old bull sales season off to a strong sell-out start in their on-farm auction yesterday afternoon.
The Story family sold 28 out of 28 young bulls put up for sale, for an average price of $10,285, and a top price of $18,000. PGG Wrightson genetics representative Emma Pollitt said it was a “wonderful” start to the East Coast Angus sales.
“There was strong local support seen at Ratanui for an excellent line of hill country bulls.
A credit to the Story family.” ‘Bull Week’ begins in Gisborne on Monday morning with the sale at Orere Angus at Pehiri, followed by the Tangihau and Kaharau studs in the early afternoon and evening respectively.
Tawa Hills from Motu sell theirs in the Matawhero saleyards rostrum on Tuesday morning, followed by Whangara and Turihaua studs.
Kenhardt at Nuhaka take their turn on Wednesday, followed that same day by Turiroa near Wairoa. Picture supplied
