Juken NZ is seeking buyers for its Matawhero mill site after concluding a transitional period and closing down.
Juken NZ managing director Hiroyuki Kawado said from this week and for the rest of March and April, the company would be meeting with parties interested in purchasing the site.
“Redundancy letters have now been given to the 13 staff who remain onsite as part of the transition crew responsible for maintaining the mill’s equipment and getting the site ready for sale.
“Their last day will be at the end of March after which the general manager will remain onsite to receive any visitors during April.
“Juken continues to support affected staff with a comprehensive support programme that includes CV development, attendance at interviews and working alongside MSD to support job-seeking.”
Juken announced the closure of the mill, which employed about 70 people, in December last year.
