Police pay tribute to their fallen on remembrance day

Tairāwhiti police will take part in a service on Friday to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The day also honours those serving, retired, sworn and non-sworn people who have died in the past year.

On September 29 each year, New Zealand Police marks Police Remembrance Day.

“We will also remember our police colleagues in Australia and the Pacific - those who have been killed by criminal acts while performing their official duties, or died as a result of their duties,” police said.
