If you believe in the concept of owning nothing and being happy, by all means institute a capital gains tax. After all, why should your children be the beneficiaries of all your hard work when you can just give your capital gains back to the state and force your descendents into a life of struggle and poverty?
It's a dry argument if your net worth is $1.3 billion but for thousands of ordinary folk the family home is all that they have.
