I happened to be in town yesterday on one of my rare ventures to the big smoke and noticed Michael Muir, the surviving patriarch of the Muir family ownership, hurrying down the street in front of our parked car.

Let’s hope the new format will not do away with the column space that has provided opportunities for readers to discuss the issues that concern us all.
It is possible and important that we can agree to disagree on important matters - that is the tried and proven formula for reaching decisions somewhere in between the extreme views of both the left and the right.
In a world without those opportunities, we will not succeed in overcoming our differences - slowly moving to a state of permanent decline.

Thank you to the Muir family.
