1 min read

The heaviest rain in Tai Rāwhiti Gisborne and Hawke's Bay has passed, after MetService issued an orange heavy rain warning on Tuesday.

MetService lead meteorologist Alain Baillie said the Gisborne ranges saw 40-50mm of rainfall overnight.

There was also 20-30mm of rainfall along the coast up to Tologa Bay.

Baillie said rain was starting to ease off north of Gisborne city this morning and moving south into Hawke's Bay.

It would be cloudy in the region for most of the day with some showers expected, he said.

The heavy rain warning is set to expire at 8.00am on Wednesday. - RNZ
