I think you are forgetting that there are lot of Maori in the club, and I would suggest that there is a little racist bias in the comments in the paper.
Sure, get the club to give it a paint job and even give the clubhouse a Māori name. But to take it back and let the weeds grow is not in good faith. The rescue boats can be launched there and are capable of rescuing whanau.
I would also suggest that the council and public help the club with maintenance of the ramp.
