Eight ships loaded and took away more than 198,000 tonnes of logs from Eastland Port in June.
A port spokeswoman said the poor weather made cart-in of logs challenging as the roading network took another hit.
“This meant reduced volumes coming in and some delays in shipping.
“As we’re now past the shortest day of the year we are looking forward to having more light in the day to process wood volumes,” she said.
“We are expecting nine ships in for July, so fingers crossed the weather plays ball.”
Cargo throughput at the port last week resumed on Friday, Matariki Day, after four days of stormy weather disrupted port operations.
The log ship AC Sesoda docked around 3.40pm that day to complete loading.
The ship had to head back out to sea earlier in the week with a partial load because of the approaching storm.
Once its full load from Gisborne was completed, the AC Sesoda sailed for Napier late on Saturday night.
Ships scheduled for July are the River Confidence, Yangtze Classic, Ruby Enterprise, Port Alfred, Irie Iris, Berhe Hallasan, Nord Yilan, Spica Harmony, and Darya Rapti.
