Drier weather helping maize harvest

The annual grain maize harvest still has about three weeks to run and the companies involved in Tairāwhiti have welcomed the drier weather. 

“It has definitely helped us with harvesting and has helped dry the crop out,” a company spokesman said. 

They reported crop yields and quality as being about average.
