Firefighters went to Centennial Marine Drive on Thursday night to put out a burning car that had been dumped towards the mouth of the Waipaoa River.
They were called to the scene around 7.30pm.
They believed the car, which was fully ablaze when they arrived, had been dumped there for some time.
