Rheis Walker was one of about 50 runners delivering The Gisborne Herald around the city for the final time on Saturday afternoon.
Rheis has been doing the K-42 run in the Paraone Road-Tamarau area for the past four years, continuing a tradition in his wider whānau who have been delivering Gisborne Heralds on this run for the past 30 years.
As of this week The Gisborne Herald has switched to being a morning paper, delivered throughout the city before 7am by local drivers contracted by NZME (publisher of the New Zealand Herald). For the first two weeks their final deadline for delivery will be 8.30am, to help new drivers settle in.
