Juken confirms Gisborne mill closure, 80 jobs to go

Dozens of Gisborne mill workers have been told they will be out of a job just three days before Christmas.

Juken New Zealand managing director Hiroyuki Kawado today confirmed news that the Japanese-owned company was closing its Matawhero sawmill in a statement, saying 60 staff would be unemployed by December 22, while 20 more staff would stay on until March next year.
