I saw a pair of kaka on Kaiti Hill several times over 20 years ago. I wonder if they are the same ones or offspring? Hopefully the remaining big old trees are left standing, at least until the native plantings have grown a bit bigger. There is also a decent-sized shag colony on the beach side of Kaiti Hill in the old pines. They feel safe in the big trees.
