Man fined, forfeits ute and kayak for crayfish haul

A MAN transporting his illegal haul of 116 crayfish from Turihaua to Gisborne was hoping to go unnoticed in the dark early hours of the morning last November.

But fisheries officers stopped him, found the huge haul — 114 of which were undersized — and evidence that the catch was destined for sale, Gisborne District Court was told.
