1 min read

The Mātai Medical Research Institute will present the findings of its latest research projects on dementia and mental health at an event on Thursday evening, open to all members of the community, including healthcare professionals and researchers.

The event will feature five expert speakers from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute and Mātai, who will present their latest research and advancements in the field.

Among the projects to be discussed are the two following ground-breaking studies on dementia and brain health:

●HER Study: This study focuses on gender differences in brain blood flow and how it impacts dementia and other related vascular diseases. The HER Study also aims to gather data on cerebrovascular health to improve diagnosis and treatment. The project includes the development of cutting-edge MRI techniques that could be applied in the Tairāwhiti region.

●Dementia study in Tairāwhiti: With dementia affecting millions globally, this research aims to identify early predictors of the disease, allowing for earlier intervention and better outcomes. The study also seeks to develop more advanced MRI biomarkers to improve dementia detection, specifically for personalisation.
