Re Car in stream in Waioeka Gorge.. I suspect possibly no spare money to pay for a winch truck salvage and recovery. No money to insure their vehicle, even for third party to compensate for incidents like this. If the vehicle is on finance, usually insurance is compulsory. While the people involved are hurt and hurting, and hopefully are recovering from their injuries, they still have a duty to ensure their misfortunes are put right, even if they have someone assist them with organising what they have to do. Besides this crash, Gisborne District is not the "clean" district it is portrayed to be when you see people daily just blatantly throwing their trash out car windows and night-dumping all around the place - poverty-driven or not. Some people have no care for the world they have to share and think they are entitled to the world owing them something.
