Riding a blue wave: Kirkpatrick’s victory a 9500-vote turnaround from 2020 election

  East Coast MP-elect Dana Kirkpatrick was in Wellington yesterday with a new-look National caucus on the back of a general election preliminary winning majority of 3138.

She replaces Labour’s Kiri Allan, who resigned her ministerial portfolios in July and announced she would not be standing for

re-election after being involved in a car crash and facing charges resulting from that.

By comparison with Tamati Coffey it is Dana who is "indigenous" to our region.
She is truly one of us and I have no doubt that she will do what she can within the bounds of the party she represents, to look after her constituents.
I heard her speak at the Lawson Field Theatre and thought she was a breath of fresh air compared to Anne Tolley.
Her own personal views are far to the right of her new boss Christopher Luxon who was working with Jacinda Ardern himself just four years ago.
Farmers and small business owners must be cheering and it seems obvious that even a large number of former Labour supporters have had enough.
