The closure of State Highway 2 north due to land stability issues at Otoko has disrupted the supply chain for fresh fruit and vegetables out of the Gisborne district.

Countdown Supermarket chain yesterday put out an advisory  to its customers pointing to the  potential impact on fruit and vegetable availability in their stores across the country.

The full resilience package? That's a bit optimistic isn't it. Who does those?It's not the mayor. It's not the GDC. They only allocate to the corporate infrastructure companies and once they get their funding what they do is virtually impossible to oversee. They are all care and no responsibility because they cannot turn the tap off. They just work to the specs provided and restart from scratch the next time. It's called disaster capitalism.
