‘One of the best’ . . . That was how the Gisborne Premier Grade netball grand final was described after a pulsating game at the YMCA on Saturday ended in an extra-extra-time 59-57 win to Whangara Old Girls over defending champions Turanga FM YMP. Whangara shooter Hinewaipounamu Rangihuna, having missed a last-gasp goal which would have won the game in normal time, turned that agony to ecstasy with the goal that put her side two ahead and sealed a sensational victory — Whangara’s first Premier title since 2016. Celebrating their win are back row (from left): Tiara Weir, Summer Marama-Kingi, Gaye Tamihana, coach Ronnie Martin, Ella Hurley, Zoe Bryant, Torepe Taumaunu and Taryn Walford.
