Proud Gizzy girls Renee Holmes and Kelsey Teneti will be out to torment Australia, Canada and the United States after being named in the Black Ferns squad for the Pacific Four Series, which starts in Brisbane at the end of the month.
Women’s Rugby World Cup-winning team member Holmes was named as one of five outside backs while NZ Sevens squad member Teneti is among the four midfielders in the 30 players in what has been hailed as the “new era” of the Black Ferns with director of rugby Allan Bunting at the helm.
“Little change of plans,” Teneti wrote on her Facebook page yesterday. “Forever grateful for every single opportunity that comes my way.”
New Zealand face Australia in their Pacific Four Series opener in Brisbane on Thursday, June 29. It will also be the first of two O’Reilly Cup transtasman tests.
They then head to Canada to play the national side in Ottawa on July 8 and USA in Ottawa on July 15.
The second O’Reilly Cup test is in Hamilton on September 30.
The Black Ferns are the reigning Pacific Fours champions.
