‘Mud monsters’ on the loose at Eastland karting meeting

Scotland might have the Loch Ness Monster but Eastland Kart Club members have “mud monsters” in their midst.

Drivers in the third – and last – race of the club’s sixth points meeting of the season on Sunday ended up covered in mud as rain turned the track to slush... and Shaun Barwick copped the worst of it.

“Scotland might have the Loch Ness Monster but here we have the mud monsters,” one club member said.

Drivers came off the track saying they had fun sliding all over the place.

They got their timed laps in although these were slower than usual.

In the kids’ race, Pyper Irvine was first, brother Kolten was second and Jose Govender was third.

Harley Davis won the Group A race, Luca Vita was second and Daniel Taylor was third.

Mike Vita won the Group B race from Barwick and Barry Irvine.

However, heavy rain during the Group B race resulted in the decision to call off the meeting.
