Log loading at Gisborne port back on after southerly blast

1 min read

Log loading at Eastland Port resumed at the weekend after the ocean surge caused by last week’s southerly abated.

The SE Cardi got alongside the wharf first on Saturday to take on logs before heading to Napier on Sunday to load further cargo.

“She took around 20,000 tonnes,” a ship’s agent said.

Her place was taken by the other ship that had been out in the bay during the southerly blast – the Taihua Star.

“That log boat was set to complete its consignment, also around 20,000 tonnes, and sail for Napier today.”

The next cruise ship to call here this season is due on Monday next week. The Westerdam carries up to 1964 passengers.
