Early voting under way

1 min read

Polly Crawford  was among the voters who enjoyed advanced (early) voting yesterday for the  2023 general election.

Voting ends at 7pm on election day, October 14.

Other first day advance voters included Labour’s East Coast candidate Tāmati Coffey who voted at Kaiti Hub, TaiTech at about 10am, and National’s East Coast candidate Dana Kirkpatrick who voted at Treble Court at 3.30pm.

The Kaiti Hub polling booth had a slow but steady number of stress-free advance voters when the Herald visited at 11am.

In 2014, the proportion of people voting in advance was 29 percent, in 2017 it was 47 percent and its popularity has continued to climb  — in 2020 it was 68 percent.

The Electoral Commission expects advance voting be at a similar level to 2020.
